In this session we are going to debate on whether relocking our country should be on our cards or can we steer clear of this pandemic with minimum restrictions

According to the WHO, India accounts for 46% of the world's new covid cases. The number of new cases keeps rising to an inexplicable count with the death toll surging to 4000 in 24 hrs. In the light of the horror unfolding all around us are we staring at another lockdown? 

Maybe a more pertinent question is whether Lockdown 2.0 is Inevitable or not.

How do I prepare for this Masterclass?

"In this debate session, you will be putting forward your viewpoints on the topic based on the team split:

For team: Lockdown is a must looking at the current scenario

1. It is necessary to break the chain of virus transmission and flatten the curve.

2. The health care system is on the verge of a collapse. A lockdown may help in easing the stress on the health infrastructure, however little it may be but considering the current scenario every little bit matters.

3. It will give a much-needed breather and the govt will get some time to ramp up its infrastructure.

4. People are indisciplined and do not obey the advisories issued by the Govt. A lockdown will force people to stay inside homes and stay safe."

Against team: Lockdown is not the solution for this crisis

1. Many people will lose their livelihood if another lockdown is imposed.

2. The economy will suffer a major setback in the event of a lockdown. We have still not been able to recover from the repercussions of the previous lockdown.

3. Many people suffer from mental anxiety and depression if they have to stay at home for prolonged periods of time.

4. With limited time to buy food and other essential supplies, people tend to buy more items than usual and stockpile. Many consumers are left empty-handed since the supply of commodities during a lockdown gets shortened for many reasons.
