What is this Masterclass about?

In this much-heated debate topic, we are going to discuss if  Money is the major source of motivation in the workplace

Economists have long argued that money doesn’t buy happiness but, compensation is still a major factor for us when we’re considering where to work. 

Obviously, salary is a major factor but there are other factors too. 

So in this debate, we will figure out what employees actually want and what do they care about?

How do I prepare for this Masterclass?

In this debate session, you will be putting forward your viewpoints on the topic based on the team split:

FOR TEAM – Money is the biggest motivator

1. Employees work only for money. Money is required not only to lead a luxurious life but for fulfilling the basic needs and sustaining oneself.

2. Money drives people to get out of bed every morning and take up the work challenges every day.

3. If we provide all the amenities at a workplace but not money, then nobody would come to work. This proves that money is the biggest motivator and everybody works for money.

AGAINST TEAM – Money is not the biggest motivator

1. Money is what brings people to work but it does not motivate one. Passion is more important in the workplace. If a person doesn’t find his work interesting, he will not do it even for money.

2. People are motivated by different things at different times. Some employees have financial goals, Others have professional goals, And others have personal goals. The same incentives cannot work for all.

3. Other things like Growth, stability, opportunity to learn, recognition are bigger motivators than money as a person moves up Maslow’s need hierarchy.
